Delhi PG Buildings Fail Fire Clearance, 99% Non‑Compliant
Only about 1.2% of Delhi’s paying‑guest (PG) accommodations have a No Objection Certificate from the Delhi Fire Service, meaning 99% lack fire clearance. A recent municipal survey also found that nearly one‑third of these buildings do not have approved layout plans, exposing residents to serious safety risks.
Delhi’s paying‑guest (PG) buildings are falling short on fire safety:
- Just 31 out of 2,500 surveyed PGs (1.2%) hold a fire NOC from the Delhi Fire Service.
- Almost 33% of the properties lack an approved layout plan, a basic requirement for safe construction.
- The gaps put residents at high risk of fire incidents and complicate emergency response.
The findings come from a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) survey released in Indian Express.
