GST Updates
Recent updates in the GST sector include the arrest of a scrap trader for GST fraud. The trader, Rajendra Yadav, was accused of selling lead scrap worth Rs 143.30 crore without paying GST.
The Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal has also made a significant ruling, stating that the GST department cannot reassess undisputed pre-GST CENVAT credit through TRAN-1 proceedings.
- The GST department had invoked proceedings under Section 74 of the GST Act.
- However, the Tribunal held that this was not permissible.
Furthermore, Andhra Pradesh has seen a significant surge in GST revenue, with a 21% increase in collections. This surpasses the national growth average of 17%.
The state's GST revenue rose to Rs 13283 crore in April-July 2026, driven by AI reforms and IGST collections.
