The finance ministry is considering a three-month extension for the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax Network's e-way bill changes from August 1, 2026.
Industry bodies have approached the ministry seeking this extension.

In other news, Waikato businesses owe Inland Revenue more than $400m in unpaid tax, including about $140m in PAYE and $200m in GST.
The tax authorities have stated that they cannot adopt contradictory positions for the same taxpayer on identical transactions, according to a recent court ruling.
