India Makes Caller ID Name Display Mandatory by Nov 2026

Starting November 1 2026, India will obligate all phone carriers to show the caller’s registered name on inbound calls. The displayed name must correspond to a trademark registered in the subscriber’s name with the Trade Marks Registry or a trade name recorded under the Goods and Services Act, a move intended to curb spoofing and boost consumer confidence.

India will enforce mandatory caller name display from November 1, 2026.
- Telecom operators must show the caller’s name on all incoming calls.
- The name must match a trademark registered in the subscriber’s name with the Trade Marks Registry or a trade name listed under the Goods and Services Act.
- Goal: reduce spoofed calls and increase trust for consumers.
