India Raises EPFO Wage Ceiling to ₹25k, Expands Worker Benefits
The Labour Ministry has raised the EPFO wage ceiling to ₹25,000 per month, bringing a larger share of employees under mandatory provident fund, pension and insurance coverage. Simultaneously, the Karnataka High Court halted state circulars that postponed revised minimum wages for outsourced and contract workers. August’s CPI‑AL inflation climbed to 5.18% from July’s 4.68%, while the Hotel Association of India defended recent price hikes as aligned with global practice, asserting compliance with the new labour code.
