India's Business Reforms
India has made significant progress in its business reforms, with the country jumping 25 places in global market reform rankings to reach 57th. This improvement is attributed to the government's efforts to introduce structural and pro-competitive reforms.
Some of the key reforms include:
- The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has approved a fresh set of reforms to operationalise the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha and enhance policyholder protection.
- The Asian Development Bank has sanctioned a $1 billion loan to boost urban reforms and city infrastructure in India.
- The government has also introduced the Delhi Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026, to address 13 of the 28 Priority Areas under Phase-II.
- Additionally, the Semiconductor push has opened new manufacturing opportunities, and the Haryana MSME policy targets ₹55,000 crore investment and 500,000 jobs.
- Karnataka has also dominated the Centre's electronics development fund, with 90 of 128 startups backed under the fund based in the state.
