GST registration in Hyderabad for IT exporters, pharma SEZ units, GCCs and traders โ LUT, biometric verification, ITC refunds set up for FY 2026-27.
Hyderabad's economy runs on three engines that all touch GST in unusual ways: IT and SaaS exports out of HITEC City and Gachibowli, pharma and life-sciences out of Genome Valley and the SEZ clusters, and global capability centres serving foreign parents. Each of these models is zero-rated or export-driven, which means your GST registration is less about charging tax and more about unlocking refunds, LUT, and clean documentation from day one.
Get the registration wrong and your first ITC refund gets a DRC-01 notice; your SEZ supplies get treated as taxable; your captive-services GCC gets caught in transfer-pricing and place-of-supply disputes. Get it right and the cash flow works quietly in the background. This page walks you through how a Hyderabad GST registration actually gets done for FY 2026-27 โ the jurisdiction call, biometric step, LUT, and the post-registration plumbing that decides whether your refunds arrive in 60 days or 600.
The GST framework has shifted meaningfully in the last 18 months. If you are registering now, these are the changes that affect how your application is processed and how you operate from day one.
A Hyderabad business is rarely a plain domestic trader. The registration has to anticipate which lever โ export, SEZ, captive, multi-State โ will define your cash flow.
Here is what happens between the day you decide to register and the day your GSTIN appears on the certificate.
Before touching the GSTN portal, we map your business: turnover today and projected for FY 2026-27, customer mix split between domestic, export, and SEZ, product or service codes, and any multi-State plans. This determines whether you need a single GSTIN, multiple, ISD, casual, or composition.
For IT exporters and GCCs, we also map the place-of-supply rules for each service line. An employee at your Hyderabad office providing remote IT support to a US bank versus consulting work performed during a US visit have different GST treatments.
We assemble PAN, Aadhaar, photographs, address proof for the principal place of business, bank documents, and the entity's constitution documents โ MOA and AOA for a company, partnership deed for an LLP, or partnership deed for a firm.
A Class-3 DSC is required for companies and LLPs to sign the application. Proprietors and partnerships can use Aadhaar e-sign if Aadhaar is linked. Address proof for a co-working space needs the operator's NOC and lease, not just an invoice.
Part A captures PAN, mobile, and email โ verified via OTP. ARN is issued for Part A. Part B contains the full application with all documents, signed using DSC or e-sign. The application then routes to the proper officer.
Aadhaar authentication for promoters and the authorised signatory happens here. Successful Aadhaar OTP can fast-track the route to GSTIN allotment; failure or risk flags route to biometric.
If GSTN flags your application as higher risk, you receive a link to book an appointment at a Hyderabad GST Suvidha Kendra. The promoter and authorised signatory appear in person with original documents and Aadhaar.
Biometric Aadhaar authentication and document verification happen at the GSK. The officer uploads the verification result, after which the application moves forward. Missing the appointment window restarts the queue.
Once verification clears, the proper officer issues the GSTIN and Registration Certificate in REG-06, downloadable from the portal. The 15-digit GSTIN encodes the State code (36 for Telangana), PAN, entity code, and check digit.
If the officer raises a query in REG-03, you have 7 working days to respond in REG-04. Non-response leads to rejection in REG-05, and a fresh application is required.
LUT is filed in RFD-11 immediately for exporters and SEZ suppliers. E-invoicing is enabled with your chosen IRP. The IMS dashboard is activated for invoice acceptance. Return calendar is locked in with monthly or quarterly filing cadence based on QRMP eligibility.
For GCCs and SEZ units, we draft the standard operating procedure for FIRC tagging, BRC closure, and refund file preparation so that the first Rule 89 application goes out cleanly within 60 days of the export period.
Consider a Hyderabad SaaS company billing US and EU customers, no domestic sales, โน6 crore projected annual turnover.
Annual refund cash inflow of roughly โน48 lakh โ the equivalent of 8% of revenue arriving back as working capital instead of staying stuck.
Your GSTIN is just the visible output. The real value sits in the configuration choices made at registration that the field officer will examine later.
If the LUT is not on file before 1 April, your first export invoice of FY 2026-27 becomes a taxable supply with IGST charged, and the refund cycle slips by an entire quarter.
The mistakes we see most often when reviewing existing Hyderabad GST registrations:
Share your business model in a short 30-minute call: what you sell, who buys it, where they are located, and your projected FY 2026-27 turnover. We will map the registration choice, identify whether biometric verification is likely, and confirm the document checklist tailored to your model.
Once the documents are gathered, the GSTN filing happens within 24-48 hours of receipt. The ARN is shared the same day; the biometric appointment (if triggered) is scheduled within the GSTN flow; and the GSTIN typically arrives in 7-15 working days. Post-registration configuration โ LUT, e-invoicing, ISD, IMS, return calendar โ is completed in the same engagement.
Place of supply, LUT, ITC refund discipline, and FIRC tagging set up at registration so the first export quarter works without firefighting.
Central vs Telangana State allotment confirmed upfront using the 90:10 formula based on turnover and pin code โ no mid-process reassignment.
Quarterly refund rhythm for SaaS, IT, and pharma exporters; documentation discipline so first refund does not draw a DRC-01 notice.
Zero-rated supplies, distinct invoicing, and specific GSTR-1 / GSTR-3B reporting configured for pharma and biotech SEZ units.
Distinct-person test, transfer-pricing alignment, and IGST treatment aligned so foreign-parent billing flows as export of services cleanly.
Hyderabad HQ plus branch GSTINs across India, ISD for common ITC, and cross-charge discipline mapped from day one.
Turnover, customer mix, product or service classification, and multi-State plans confirmed before any portal action.
PAN, Aadhaar, photographs, address proof, bank statement, MOA / AOA, and Class-3 DSC collected and validated.
Part A and Part B filed on the GSTN portal with all documents; Aadhaar OTP authentication for promoters; ARN issued.
Where flagged, GSK appointment booked in Hyderabad and in-person Aadhaar biometric verification completed.
REG-06 issued by the proper officer; certificate downloaded and shared. REG-03 queries (if any) responded to in REG-04.
LUT in RFD-11, e-invoicing IRP, ISD, IMS dashboard, return calendar, and FIRC SOP all set up.
First GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and refund application reviewed jointly so the documentation pattern holds for subsequent cycles.
Professional assistance with no hidden charges. Clear milestones and honest communication.
PAN of promoters and authorised signatory, Aadhaar, passport-size photograph, Class-3 DSC, board resolution or authorisation letter.
Certificate of Incorporation, MOA and AOA, partnership deed, LLP agreement, entity PAN, and bank statement or cancelled cheque.
Electricity bill, lease or rent agreement, landlord NOC, co-working agreement with operator NOC, or property tax receipt.
HSN or SAC codes, nature of business activity, projected turnover, export markets, FIRC arrangement, and SEZ unit details where applicable.
Foreign customer agreements, IEC, AD bank code, SEZ Letter of Approval, and STP or EHTP scheme details where applicable.
