FAQs for GST Registration in Telangana

Both States operate under the same GSTN portal; differences come from State-level scrutiny pace and biometric appointment availability. Telangana has been efficient in scheduling biometric appointments and processing registrations; clean filings typically clear in 7-12 working days. Andhra Pradesh has comparable timelines for most categories.

Yes — SEZ units register on the standard GSTN portal and flag SEZ status during registration. Supplies to and by SEZ are zero-rated under Section 16 IGST Act. SEZ units must maintain distinct invoicing, separate reporting in returns, and supporting LoA / SEZ approval documentation.

The captive GCC is a separate legal person from the foreign parent (Schedule I distinct-person test). Services to the foreign parent qualify as export of services (zero-rated) if the conditions in Section 2(6) IGST Act are met. Transfer pricing must support arm's-length pricing. With LUT, no IGST is charged; ITC accumulates and is refunded through Rule 89.

T-Hub is a State-level startup incubator; recognition there does not by itself confer GST benefits, but Telangana DPIIT-recognised startups (under National Startup-India Action Plan) get Section 80-IAC tax holiday and Section 56(2)(viib) angel-tax exemption. T-Hub membership often facilitates DPIIT recognition. We coordinate both at the time of GST registration.
